Don’t research your topic, search only for materials that directly support your conclusion. This would be called “confirmation bias” at any other time and is not considered a good way to discover evidence, but in a pinch it is what you have to do. Use words like “support” or “found” in your search to make sure you are pulling up supportive findings for your thesis.

The only thing you achieve is that a look of deep annoyance crossed their faces. You surely don’t want this to reflect in your grade. Right?

This post has real-life inspiration. Next Thursday, I have a paper due for my philosophy class on Nietzsche. Weekdays are busy with problem sets and assignments. I do not expect myself to start consolidating material for the paper till this weekend, which leaves me plenty of time to plan an effective essay.
After I finished reading and highlighting parts of the books, I sat down with a notebook and wrote down the gist of each section using what I had previously marked in the books. I used to do this as I read, but found it to take a long time to finish the process. Now, I read in whatever small bursts of time I have, and revisit my books to quickly take notes in one go using what I have highlighted. Now, I had a short summary of the assigned works in front of me as a map of what to reference.

I have dyslexia which makes my grammar atrocious, I often like to write short stories and post them online but I always get pulled for my punctuation. I’ve even had it where I’ve spent a good deal of time on something and thought that I had done everything perfectly I still end up getting pulled for multiple mistakes/missing grammar.
(also so I don’t get the comment of learning how to put your own grammar right. Dyslexia is a bitch, I know how to put incorrect grammar and often know the correct spellings of words but when I look at what I have written it looks right but isn’t)

My students have major problems with comma splice run-one sentences. I have tried to teach them the grammar behind sentence structure, but many of them simply cannot grasp it at their age (young teens). They all have access to Chromebooks for writing. They can use Grammarly, but pointing out comma splice run-ons is an “Advanced Feature” for which they must pay on Grammarly. Our district will not pony up for this.
Anyone know of a free online grammar checker, like Grammarly, but which will help with pointing out run-on sentences? Also, would be nice if it could help them find its/it’s and there/their/they’re errors. Google spell check is kind of useless, I’ve noticed. Some of these kids do need the tech help to make these corrections, and I’m tired to death of pointing them out. It’s a waste of my time if they can learn to use a tool that can do it for them/with them.

My German isn’t very good, but I need to have a text checked. That doesn’t include just typos, but also correct grammatical case, articles, word order etc.
There are websites where you can make contact with professional freelance proof readers, but this is not cheap. The German word you are looking for is “Lektorat”.
